2 Hour, Girl Power workshop - Free places for Mytholmroyd girls

We're running another in our series of self defence and confidence workshops for girls during the half term break on Wednesday 26 October 2016.

2 hour girl power

These are practical, hands-on workshops that run over 2 hours and look at ways to stay safe at school, on public transport and on the streets.

Due to some funding received from Roof Over Youth, we're offering 10 free places on this workshop to girls aged between 11 and 15 living in Mytholmroyd.

Every Monday (over 50's), Wednesday and Friday morning we get the gloves on for Boxercise at the gym timetable here.

It's a non-contact training session using focus pads and gloves to throw punches and combinations in a stress busting workout you'll find hard to beat.

Fighting fit fifties
Monday's are a mixed session (men and women), specifically for over 50's (or thereabouts) with a low impact workout and modifications for various levels of fitness and ability.

A social class with plenty of laughter and support from fellow Boxercisers.

Women's Boxercise
Wednesdays and Fridays are a mixture of padwork, bagwork, plenty of strength and conditioning and cardio too. The format changes every session so it's never boring, you'll find time flies once you get into a few rounds of punching.

We promote a supportive and friendly atmosphere (women only in these sessions) that you will find different to any other regular gym.

Beginner's course starts tomorrow

It's our final beginner's course for girls and women this year and it starts tomorrow, Tuesday 6 September 2016.

Run over 9 consecutive Tuesdays with a break for half term, the course ends on Nov 1st.

Here's a few FAQ's

What if I can't make all the sessions?
If you're going to miss 1 or 2 of the sessions over the 8 week course, you will be able to catch up so don't let this stop you from doing it.

I don't want to hit anyone or get hit, will I have to do this?
No. You'll hit another person's glove, a focus pad or a punch bag. This is a glove contact course so no getting hit!

I'm not fit, will I manage the course?
Yes, you can work at your own pace and we'll help you develop your fitness. This is a coach-style course and not a fast paced, group fitness session.
